African Delta Power Limited (ADP) is established for developing a clean natural gas-operated power generation plant in Nigeria. The project is aimed at addressing Nigeria’s energy deficit, actual unmet demand, by adding significant power capacity to the national grid. The project is set to utilize modern technology and well-established infrastructure to ensure the efficient production and distribution of electricity to underserved regions.
The project is developed by New America Ltd., in collaboration with key contracted service providers bringing world-class expertise in the project’s developer’s master planned, engineering, legal services, financial advisory, and power generation technology delivered as a complete modular package to the field.
The project’s independent feasibility study was performed by BDO International with their published opinion of the project’s high feasibility and a significant projected market value.
To further mitigate risk, the operator shall be under contract to provide day-to-day operations with both preventive and unscheduled maintenance and thereby essentially renewing the life of the plant every seven years. The project’s contractors shall be bonded, they have built and currently operate this exact modular design at five separate sites elsewhere.
The Government of Nigeria has recently enacted significant regulatory incentives to attract foreign investment in its power generation and grid transmission initiative for the government owned national grid. It is this national government owned grid ADP will be serving as a wholesale power provider. The Government of Nigeria has embraced this project as the financial model and means to address the unmet demand currently in Nigeria.
The President of Nigeria has extended his invitation to the developers of this project and their team members to join with him, his AG and the State Governor at the ribbon cutting of this project as he announces this project as his initiative “To Light Up Nigeria”. The Project’s developer, New America Ltd., has assembled a team that consists of experienced industry veterans with established key relationship across the power sector.
With a capacity to generate approximately 732 MWs, the ADP project can provide electricity to up to 43 million people per year. This accounts for about 18% of the 234 million of Nigeria’s population that currently needs reliable access to electricity. The project is located in the gas rich formation of the Niger Delta Region of Southeast Nigeria· ADP was formed to function as the entity to succeed a government owned power generation company (GENCO) in its long-term planned Phase II existing power plant’s power to increase power by 732 MWs.
